So, I’m a week late in posting pictures from Emmy’s birthday, but I guess time flies when you have a newly inducted 2 year old! 🙂
On Saturday, Sept 13th our little Miss Emmy turned the big 0-2 and it was quite the day! She had the time of her life. It was a party from the moment she woke up until she went to bed. She even skipped her nap because we were having so much fun. Unfortunately, though she hit her face on a cupboard door the day before so the bridge of her nose is a bit swollen. She’s never had that obvious of an injury before and of course it has to happen the day before her birthday! Luckily, the bruising and swelling went down a lot more than I thought it would so it’s not nearly as bad as it could’ve been. Anyway, back to her birthday…the night before her birthday, after she went to bed, Jeremiah manned Max and I got busy decorating the house. Now, if I had it my way, I would have decorated for her birthday much different than I did, but since this was her day, I went with a theme that I knew she’d love….Owls. I even bought a tacky owl tablecloth and owl centerpiece. I then got busy blowing up balloon, after balloon, after balloon. By the end, I seriously thought I was going to pass out. But I had to do it in order to make her birthday morning surprise; which was to cover her door in balloons and have them trapped between her door and cray paper so that when she opened her door in the morning she would be greeted with an avalanche of balloons! Being that she absolutely adores balloons, I knew that this was going to blow her mind!
So, when the morning came and we heard her knocking on her door, I snuck into her room through Max’s room (their Jack and Jill bathroom definitely comes in handy sometimes) and greeted her with birthday hugs and kisses! I then helped her open her door and stepped out of the way as all of the balloons fell on her. Once she got over the shock of what had just happened, she was was so giddy she couldn’t even handle it. There was just a lot of galloping, squealing and saying, “My balloons! I love my balloons!” and “It’s my birthday! I love my birthday!” And that was the beginning of a fantastic day, with some of her favorite people.
Now, to end this post, I need to brag just one last time…
Jeremiah and I couldn’t be more proud of our little girl. She is the sweetest, funniest, big-hearted little girl that anyone could ever ask for. We are so very lucky to be this little girl’s mommy and daddy, and we can’t wait to see what this third year with Miss Emmy will bring because so far it’s been better than we could have ever, ever have imagined! She amazes us every day. xoxo
