First of all, how in the world do blogging mamas have time to blog?!? I mean really. I barely have time to shower, much less blog on a regular basis. I don’t know who I thought I was when I started blogging again thinking I was going to write posts a few times a week?! Ha! These days, I call it a success if I get a new post up a few times a month!
Anyway, let’s get to it before a kiddo wakes up from their nap…
So, one thing I want to instill in my children is creativity. Already Emmy has taken interest in creating things, which I love. If I have fabric laying around she will take it and fold it and unfold it, flip it over and fold it again….when I ask her what she’s doing, she’ll say, “I’m making a Mika!” We also like to paint these days and so the other day she painted a picture and I framed it and put it on a shelf in our dining room. She loved having her art work framed like that and so then I had an idea. I’ve been searching high and low for an art piece to put above our fireplace mantel, but then I realize, why buy the art when I gave birth to an artist! So, everyday, Emmy would paint using a new color and she would tell me when she’s done and we’d put the paint away and the next day she’d then do the same thing, with a new color. And before you know it, we had a beautiful art piece to put above our mantel! 🙂
While we’re on the topic of DIYs, I did a little DIY in Max’s room. I felt like his room needed a bit more love and so after a bit of searching online, I found this cute idea! Although, it definitely wasn’t as easy as I thought it was going to be, therefore if you’re thinking of doing this in one of your rooms, let me know and I can tell you what I did wrong so that you don’t make the same mistakes as I did! Anyway, here’s how it turned out:
I have one more DIY to share with you guys…this one was EASY-PEASY! All you have to do is get a large enough rock and spray paint it gold, or whatever color you’d like and there ya have it…a bookend or paper weight! I already had gold spray paint and so all I had to do was find some rocks…which I stole from the landscaping outside of our library. Now, I’d love to say I came up with this easy idea on my own, but I didn’t. I got it from the wonderful designlovefest.com
Now, lastly, a few pictures of my little loves:

We surprised my mom and went to Chippewa Falls to go to the craft fair where she was selling her Mikas and books. As you can see, Emmy had a blast!
